When it comes to marriage, age difference mattersNovember 12, 2009 at 9:59 am | Posted in Uncategorized | 1 Comment
Whoever said that communication was the ticket to happiness in a relationship didn’t read this recent study by researchers at Bath University. After studying interviews of 1,500 couples who were married or in a serious relationship and following up with 1,000 of the couples five years later, researchers found that age difference was a key indicator to predicting a successful marriage.
The future isn’t so rosy for cougars.
Women who were at least five years older than their mate were more than three times as likely to divorce than if they were the same age. However, if the man is older than the woman by five theirs, their relationship tended to last longer.
Researches also pointed out that women with more education than their husbands also added to the of relationships with longevity (probably because women apply that education to better managing their husbands).
Reading between the lines of this study, I’m not surprised. It follows along the lines with the adage that women mature more quickly than men.
